Maarten Z.H. Kolk
Dr. Maarten Kolk received training in medicine and holds a master’s degree in health policy from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He completed a PhD at the University of Amsterdam on machine learning approaches for the early prediction of ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death, earning cum laude distinction and the Young Investigator Award from the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).
As a postdoctoral researcher, he focuses on the development and implementation of multimodal artificial intelligence within the DEEP RISK, SafeHeart, ELECTRIC-AI, and RESCUE.AI projects. These initiatives aim to advance machine learning frameworks for improved risk stratification and clinical decision support for patients at risk of ventricular arrhythmias. In addition, he is a co-founder of a med-tech startup and practices clinically in the cardiology department.
